Travelling broadens the mind – that is a true statement but how far do you really have to travel?
With rising prices and the decreased value of the pound and the unknown that is Brexit; not to mention the chances of getting fined if you take your kids on holiday during term time; more and more people are looking to holiday closer to home. We give you 10 good reasons why a staycation in the UK could be the best holiday plan for 2019.
1.THE TRAVELLING IS EASIER
Staying in the UK means you can forget all those airport hassles – No queuing to drop off your luggage. No remembering to pack your liquids and cosmetics away in your case or face losing them. No standing watching luggage going round and round on the carousel with the sick worry that yours may not have made it on to the plane. No queuing to hire a car then remembering which side of the road to drive on. No, when you stay on home
turf things are much easier.
2.YOU DON’T NEED A PASSPORT
“Tickets, Money, passport!” the mantra we all chant as we leave the house for the airport. Who hasn’t experienced that moment of blind panic when you feel sure the passport is sitting in a drawer at home rather than safely in your bag. Or worse did you renew it at vast expense or is it out of date! Holiday in the UK and you are guaranteed no passport problems.
3.NO EXTRA AIRPORT COSTS
You can never just hop on a plane as you can a train, it’s necessary to be there at least an hour or more before take off to get through the endless security checks and then there is always going to be a wait in the departure lounge afterwards. There are always “bargains” to be had here and the temptation to spend, spend, spend is huge, especially when you are in a holiday mode; but do you really need another bottle of perfume and an extra extra large share bag of M&Ms!
4.THERE IS NO NEED TO EXCHANGE YOUR MONEY
This is an obvious advantage to staying in the UK. You know how much everything costs without having to do a quick calculation on the exchange rate each time you purchase something. The familiar pounds and pence take no effort to understand and you may even find some things are cheaper at your holiday destination than at home.
5. NO LANGUAGE BARRIER
Taking a staycation means you won’t have to point to things and speak slowly and loudly to make yourself understood. Neither will you need to practise your bit of French or Spanish. Ok, so we all know our por favour and s’il vous plait and how to order una cerveza or une biere but without doubt, it’s much easier to speak to someone in plain English.
6. YOU SUPPORT LOCAL ECONOMIES
By visiting some of the many tourist areas of Britain you help those small independent businesses that have grown up around those places. The independent coffee shops, restaurants, craft centres, gift shops and visitor attractions are all able to survive, flourish and offer employment to the local communities. What’s more you will get to experience some unique products and places. And you will no doubt be rewarded with excellent service as thanks for your support – Far better than the run of the mill High Street experience.
7. FOOD YOU LOVE
Going abroad for our holidays often means we lose sight of all the good things Great Britain has to offer… our superb real ale and hospitable country inns, the Yorkshire Pud, the Cornish Cream Tea, the Scottish shortbread and single malts. Fish and Chips, Sunday Roasts and not forgetting the iconic Full English. Forget “Deli-Belly”
with a staycation you’ll get Great British Grub!
8. OUR STUNNING LANDSCAPE
When we live and work in towns then travel to the airport and fly away for our holiday we can miss out on seeing the many exceptionally beautiful parts of the UK. The Yorkshire Dales and Coast, The Lakes, The Peaks. The Scottish Highlands, Rugged Cornwall and all the National Parks to name a few. Not forgetting those memorable towns and cities like York, Cambridge Bath etc. There’s so many to visit, there’s no time to waste!
9. AWARD WINNING BEACHES AND MAYBE EVEN SOME SUNSHINE!
There is no need to visit far flung exotic coasts when the UK boasts many of the best and cleanest beaches. In fact there are 201 with Blue Flag Awards which have met the most stringent criteria to gain the accolade. From Scarborough to Skegness, from Blackpool to Brighton, from Whitby to Weymouth, there’s so many to park your deck chair on. And with summers as good as 2018 you better remember your sun cream too!!
10. AND FINALLY….
With a staycation you make memories. Memories that are easy and affordable to re-experience for all the family for generations to come.
